Friday update

On Friday morning, representatives from the PA Midwives Alliance (PAMA) and Birth Freedom PA (BFPA) met with Senators Kristin Phillips-Hill and Dawn Keefer to address the growing tensions within the direct entry midwifery community following the recent dissent surrounding SB507.

We emphasized the importance of including an exclusionary clause in the language of SB507 to ensure recognition that non-nurse midwives practice independently of the medical model.

We are optimistic that Senators Phillips-Hill and Keefer are supportive and willing to collaborate with us, offering a path forward and a seat at the table in shaping this critical amendment. We are extremely appreciative of their time and feedback.

PAMA and BFPA are actively working to schedule future meetings, with the shared goal of resolving this matter as peacefully and constructively as possible.
